Terms
AMThe third component in Telecom Egypt's OSS stack. Activates services on the network after IM completes inventory updates.
ADSLBroadband technology delivering internet over copper phone lines. Asymmetric = different download/upload speeds.
attrListThe XML block in EgyptWorkSheetAll SOAP requests containing all technical/resource parameters (RFS data). Nested inside bussItem.
bussItemA single service provisioning action within a SOAP request. Contained inside bussInfo.
CFSService parameters visible to or about the customer (name, email, account number, username, password). IM classifies CFS vs RFS automatically.
CRMThe customer-facing system where orders originate. Telecom Egypt's CRM sends orders to OM.
CPEHardware installed at the customer's location โ ONT, router, STB, IP phone.
DCNThe internal network connecting OSS servers, including VPN tunnels and firewall policies.
DSLAMNetwork equipment at the exchange that aggregates ADSL/VDSL subscriber lines.
FTTHFiber optic broadband technology delivering internet directly to the subscriber's premises.
flowIdUnique identifier included in each SOAP request from OM. Used as an idempotency key by IM.
IMThe system documented here. Stores all service and resource inventory for Telecom Egypt's OSS.
IPCCCall center infrastructure based on IP telephony.
IPTVTelevision service delivered over IP network infrastructure.
LDAPsSecure LDAP protocol used by IM to authenticate user passwords against Active Directory.
NBIInterface through which management systems (like IM) access network element data. Requires licensing from Huawei.
NEA physical or virtual network device (DSLAM, OLT, ONT, switch, etc.).
NMSSoftware platform for managing network devices. Matrix and eMatrix are NMS systems.
OMThe second component in the OSS stack. Receives orders from CRM and sends work orders to IM and AM.
OLTCentral office equipment that connects to ONTs in an FTTH network.
ONTCustomer-side device in an FTTH deployment. Converts optical signal to ethernet.
OSSThe software systems (OM, IM, AM) used to support telecom service operations.
POPA physical location where network equipment aggregates subscriber connections. popid in SOAP = exchange POP.
PPPoEAuthentication protocol used for DSL broadband connections. UserName and Password in SOAP are PPPoE credentials.
RFSTechnical/network parameters needed to provision the service (frame, slot, port, VLAN, IP, OLT, etc.). IM classifies these automatically.
SMSCSMS gateway infrastructure.
SIPProtocol for VoIP/IP-Phone services. SIPDomainName in SOAP specifies the SIP domain.
STBIPTV receiver device. STB SN and MAC are tracked in IM.
UATTesting phase where Telecom Egypt validates the system before commercial launch.
VDSLFaster DSL technology than ADSL. Requires shorter copper loop lengths.
VLANNetwork segmentation tag used in FTTH deployments. Assigned per subscriber in IM.
WOA provisioning task sent from OM to IM, containing all service and customer parameters.
